Thank you all for the incredible work you are doing with students, and for being advocates for financial education on your campuses! CashCourse is honored to support your efforts. As the year comes to a close, we want to share some of the CashCourse highlights from 2017.
The CashCourse website underwent a redesign in summer 2017. The new site has an updated look and feel, greater accessibility and new assignment features. We are immensely proud of the new site and have been pleased with the positive response from our partners and students.
CashCourse was chosen for use in the Iowa Board of Regents financial education initiative, a coordination to bring financial education to first year students at the University of Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University. The percentage of participating students who reported feeling confident in their money management skills went from 20.7 percent before the training to nearly 60 percent after. We look forward to hearing more about this work in 2018.
The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office continues to incorporate CashCourse in their system-wide financial education initiative. They unveiled a new marketing strategy this year and continue to work to financially empower their 2.1 million students at 113 colleges.
Through the 2017 CashCourse Reimbursement Program, we provided $22,050 to help fund financial education at 44 colleges and universities. For the first time ever, we also awarded $4,968 to fund professional development opportunities for 12 individuals pursuing training or attending conferences to further their financial education skills. CashCourse is happy to help support these efforts.
Paul Goebel, the director of the University of North Texas Student Money Management Center, was selected as our 2017 CashCourse Financial Educator of the Year. Congratulations to Paul! You can read more about his phenomenal work at UNT and national achievements here.
Finally, we are so proud that CashCourse is offered to students at 1,090 universities and colleges across the United States and surrounding territories. Thank you for all that you do for your students and for the financial education field. We are looking forward to 2018.
